GlaxoSmithKline is another drug manufacturer that has marketed a SSRI to treat those afflicted with depressive disorders.  Paxil, one of the more popular anti-depressive drugs, regulates serotin levels in the brain, in an effort to improve symptoms of depression.  However, Paxil has been shown to be unsafe for pregnant patients, and the incidence of birth defects is greatly increased.  Septal defects in the heart are increased – - basically, holes in the heart walls.

Other defects are associated with the formation of the baby’s skull, or craniosynostosis, are also increased in pregancies associated with Paxil ingestion; the plates of the baby’s skull do not form correctly.  Limb abnormalities, like clubfoot also occur at an increased rate, as will as pulmonary hypertension.

All of the aforementioned defects occur with varying degrees of severity and the damages can range from self-correcting, to death.  All victims of these birth defects may be entitled to monetary compensation though; contact us now for a caring and confidential consultation to determine you, or a loved one’s rights.  We are here to help in your time of need.  713-807-7800 or use our client intake form here, on this site.
